The object appears to be a 1x1x1 meter cube, consisting entirely of steel. The object weighs 78.5 kilograms, 1% of the approximate weight of a normal 1x1x1 meter steel cube. The cube has a red button, 5 centimeters in diameter, attached to one side. The button is labeled "Initiate." All attempts to remove the button have been met with failure.

The item's anomalous properties manifest when any human presses the button. Upon pressing the button, the human in question, herein referred to as the subject, disappears. Video surveillance during the disappearance reveals the subject to be in one frame, and gone in the next. Despite not being visible or tangible in any way to others, subjects report to be standing where they were before coming in contact with the cube, completely immobile.

Shortly after disappearing, subjects are, in theory, given total control of all matter within their immediate memory, which, in most cases, restricts them to what is in the room at the moment. Subjects are able to move objects, raise or lower the temperature of objects or of the room itself, or rearrange the particles of anything within their memory. Depending on the level of intelligence of the subject, they are able to maintain relative control for three to ten seconds before their grip on matter begins to loosen. When this happens, any attempts by the subject to alter its environment either fail, resulting in unintended damage to everything within the immediate vicinity, or succeed, but have unintended consequences, usually resulting in damage to everything in the immediate vicinity.1 Subjects slowly regain visibility and tangibility after five to forty minutes, at the cost of some memory loss. The severity of the memory loss depends on the complexity of the tasks performed while using the object.

Any humans with knowledge of the cube that remain within one (1) kilometer of it eventually develop a desire to press the button on the face of the cube. Tests show this can be prevented indefinitely by the person in question without the aid of others, though separation from the cube after prolonged exposure to this effect can cause depression, insomnia, and fits of psychotic rage, though these side effects are rare.
